Twelfth Night Revels - Rehearsal

VENUE: Felton Village Hall

Henry VIII made a lot of Twelfth Night, so we thought we should to, recreating in our own way his court's celebrations in 1518. Music, dancing, mummer's play, games, sword dance, a jester … all overseen by our very own Master of Misrule in our very own Village Hall. It was such fun we're going to do it all over again in 2019.

This year it's going to be a bring-your-own-food-and-drink event, with a flat rate of £5 for everyone to cover room hire, printing and bits and pieces. Last year's hog roast was wonderful, but it's a bit of a financial risk.

January 2016 was when Felton Music got set up with its bank account and a plan, so it seems a good idea to combine its birthday party with the Tudor Revels.

The evening depends on lots of music. Some to accompany the dancing, some to be listened to. There are opportunities for singers and players of all levels of experience and confidence to so as much or as little as they would like. And it's a great chance to explore practically the music of 400 years ago. We've already got quite a few people in the music team, but there's space for anyone and everyone who'd like to take part. Just email. And do encourage friends and family to come along to enjoy the evening.

Everyone is so busy in the lead up to Christmas that we're not doing anything then.  The Village Hall is booked for rehearsals on the evenings of January 2, 3 and 4. We'll sort out who's going to rehearse when before Christmas. It's quite intense, but great fun, so, if you aren't off in the sun or the snow, you can have an exciting time right here at home.
