Do you like musicals? Enjoy a good sing?
In just three hours, we put together an edited version of a whole show. There's no acting, but volunteers read bits of the script that keep the story going and join the songs together.
We spend the first hour and a half warming up. reminding ourselves how all the tunes go and getting to know less familiar numbers. There's a good long break to give voices a chance to recover, then just an hour to run through the show.
No solos – everyone sings everything, so by the end we're all sung out. And anyone is welcome to come along and sing as much or as little as they choose.
Some people enjoy a touch of dressing up in the style of the show, so that's encouraged, and we've introduced a short quiz for a bit more fun.
We do three musicals a year, in the autumn, early spring, and as part of Feltonbury in June. The June sing is always The Sound of Music.
So far we have sung My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Calamity Jane and Joseph.
We're always in Felton Village Hall on a Saturday morning from 9.30 to 12.30.
