Monthly Music Saturday
Start 2019 with a swing – those who came to December's Reading Music session asked for more syncopation work. Ever happy to oblige, that's what we'll do.
Last time people enjoyed tuning in to each others voices with the help of easy arrangements of negro spirituals in Confident Singing. We'll add the verses to those songs this time and work on using muscles to support and control the sound. Practise breathing from low down if it's still proving elusive!
The A Cappella packs seem to have been a good idea. Do remember to bring them on the 12th. There'll be more sets on Saturday for those who haven't got one. If you haven't already planned what you would like to sing, I'd suggest for those using the starter pack, that you focus on “Da Pacem Domine”, “Non Nobis Domine” and “Now is the Month of Maying”
We'll have plenty for the Ukulele group to explore – do bring along anything you'd like to share.
With a Northumberland Arms session on January 22, the Slow Tunes people will be practising so that any who would like to go to that feel prepared. Play by ear or from the music – any and all instruments welcomed.
Music Saturdays are about developing and practising skills. They provide an opportunity to learn and to try activities to find out whether they are interesting and enjoyable. Over time, different things have been timetabled on Saturdays, reflecting people's interests. In the summer, other events and commitments may mean Music Saturdays have to be a bit flexible.
We meet at Felton Village Hall. Refreshments are available throughout the day. Everyone is welcome to come to any of the sessions. No need to attend every month.
The morning is devoted to singing, with an emphasis on becoming a more confident singer. Pick up any of the sessions, or treat yourself and come to all of them!
Cost of Confident Singing is just 50p. For everything else, it's £1.50 for each session to cover room hire, refreshments and materials
